Finally , the President speaks up … True, accusations
have been thrown back on his administration. President Aquino’s approval rating
hit a record low amid the pork barrel scandal. In fact according to the latest survey commissioned by the Office of Political
Affairs for the month of October showed
the President’s rating down to 35 percent. Aquino’s rating suffered a
44-percent drop compared to the 79 percent he got in the Pulse Asia survey
conducted from Sept. 14 to 27.
Detractors’
allegations on the so-called corruption of the Aquino administration was
focused on the DAP (Disbursement
Acceleration Program ) . Yet, the President explained to the Filipinos how the DAP funds was utilized . He
strongly emphasized that DAP is not a
form of corruption , for its’ purpose , disbursements and allocations are all
according to the constitution . He mentioned specific government agencies and
programs under the DAP.
I
must say I agree with the President with his statement “Kung hindi mo kayang ipaliwanag, palabuin mo na lang lahat; kung hindi mo
kayang bumango, pabahuin mo na lang lahat; kung hindi mo kayang gumuwapo,
papangitin mo na lang lahat. Narinig naman ninyo ang hirit nila: Pare-pareho
lang naman daw kaming lahat” Precisely , this is what had happened , the Pork Barrel Scam came out ,
Janet Napoles was then detained … Politicians whose involvement with the Pork
Barrel Scam was known , then started to reveal numerous issues , leaving the
poor Juan dela Cruz in puzzle .. Who must be telling the truth?
The President
must have explained to the people earlier . Isn’t it that his administration is
for the “ Daang Matuwid “ ? The Filipinos have the right to know everything .What
took him so long to finally deliver his address
to the nation ?
Better
late than never , I know most Filipinos will agree with me , that through his address
last night , many issues were made clear . Doubts , presumptions and even misinterpretations
were given answers and explanations . But this doesn’t mean , that along the
DAP , no corruptions occurred , if not in the Office of the President , in some
government offices perhaps involved in the implementation of the programs and
projects under the DAP .
The President’s
sincerity on his fight against corruption was put to a test . The Filipino people spoke up through the
survey . He got a very low rating . His address to the nation , is just a first
step .. As the highest executive officer of the country , he must do everything
that whoever is guilty of corruption be in PDAF or DAP be put in prison ..
